Throughout the last few years, CG Pro Prints has had various opportunities to support local and national organizations through canvas print donations. In 2014 the need for donations, as well as the company's passion for these causes, grew larger than they could've imagined. Thus, the Canvas for a Cause program was born. Established to provide canvas print donations for organizations in need, Canvas for a Cause has helped Humane Societies, equine therapy centers, adoption agencies, schools, and higher education programs. Today the program only continues to grow.
Last year the Canvas for a Cause program kicked off with CG Pro Prints' donation to a local non-profit organization, Emergency Family Assistance Association (EFAA) to provide canvas prints for families in need throughout the Holiday season (read more here). With no shortage of organizations in need of canvas, the program opened 2015 with one of its first donations in support Eldorado Elementary, a local Colorado school.
Eldorado decided to renovate the Teacher's Lounge to improve their offered amenities as part of the school's Staff Appreciation Week. This upgrade included updated wall decor to accompany the lounge's new look. Eldorado reached out to local photographer Andrea Smyth, of Andrea Smyth Photography, to see if she'd be interested in donating her photography service for the cause. Smyth, whose two sons attend Eldorado, graciously agreed to the project. Luckily, Smyth had been using CG Pro Prints for her photography business and reached out to discuss printing her photos for the Teacher's Lounge.
"As soon as Andrea sent us her donation request, I knew the project would be a perfect fit for Canvas for a Cause," stated Megan Sievert, CG Pro Prints Marketing Specialist. "We had yet to support a local school system through this program, so I was excited when Andrea presented us with the opportunity."
CG Pro Prints donated two 24"x24" Canvas Gallery Wraps for the Teacher's Lounge featuring Smyth's beautiful photography from her family's recent trip to Ireland.
At the completion of the renovation project, CG Pro Prints received an appreciative update from the Eldorado staff: "As part of our annual Staff Appreciation Week, our PTO Staff Appreciation Team coordinated with local interior designers, photographers, and teachers to renovate our much-loved, but sadly out-of-date, Staff Lounge. The team refinished cabinets and community tables, made curtains and cushions, added homey touches like a comfy reading chair, coffee nook, and popcorn machine. To top it all off, artwork is now adorning the walls. Thanks to CG Pro Prints and Andrea Smyth Photography, we have two beautiful canvases of the Irish countryside flanking our notice board. This artwork makes all the difference in the room and we couldn't be more grateful for this generous donation."
But the project with Eldorado Elementary School didn't stop there. Smyth also shared her involvement with the school's annual Summer Festival scheduled for mid-May. She was tasked with putting together a creative arts project for the festival attendees and loved the idea of a paint-on-canvas booth. CG Pro Prints donated four blank white 24"x24" Canvas Gallery Wraps to the project. Smyth planned to used the blank canvases for a finger-painting project with the elementary school students. The four canvases would then continue to be used at Eldorado events throughout the year, with the long-term goal of displaying the square grouping in the school's front lobby.
After the festival, Smyth contacted CG Pro Prints to provide an update on the event and send thanks for the donation: "This was Eldorado's second annual Summer Festival and, despite our crazy May weather, it was absolutely fantastic! The festival featured games, prizes, local vendors, raffles, and the much-loved silent auction. Thanks so much to CG Pro Prints for donating canvases to our Canvas Art Project. This is an on-going project where we get students to leave their mark (literally!) for future generations of Eldorado Panthers to enjoy. This installment, our first, is of students' fingerprints framing our 'EE' logo. The students and community volunteers had such fun watching everyone leave their very own mark. This canvas is proudly displayed in our front lobby for all to see as they enter our school. We love Eldorado and give our sincere thanks to CG Pro Prints for helping to make this project such a success."
With the completion of the first 2015 Canvas for a Cause initiative, CG Pro Prints looks forward to continuing with this program in support of other organizations. All of the programs will be highlighted on the blog throughout the year so be sure to check back for more updates on the Canvas for a Cause program.
