Recently, CG Pro Prints had the opportunity to support a local non-profit organization, Global Education Fund (GEF), through our Canvas for a Cause program. Canvas for a Cause is designed to support local and national non-profit organizations through canvas print donations. To stick to our overall mission, we seek to partner with organizations who incorporate photography as part of their initiatives for change and awareness. When GEF approached us for support with their silent auction fundraiser and gala, we had no hesitation to get involved.
Founded in 1998, Global Education Fund's mission is to improve the lives of children living in poverty around the world through education. Since their founding, GEF has successfully partnered with local organizations to provide access to education in Kenya, India and Guatemala. These initiatives have helped children and youth enroll and stay in school and increased the engagement of girls and boys by focusing on issues relevant to their lives presently and in the future. Below is a breakdown of worldwide education statistics "by the numbers" and the challenges GEF is constantly striving to overcome (information and statistics from GEF pamphlet and globaleducationfund.org).
To combat some of these pressing issues, GEF hosts various fundraising events to increase awareness of their organization, grow their partnership opportunities, and raise funds for the development of their partner grantee's programs. For their Global Education Fund Gala held earlier this fall, CG Pro Prints donated canvas prints for the silent auction part of the evening. The prints featured photography from local and national contributors showcasing native people, wildlife and scenery from India, Kenya and Guatemala, the countries in which GEF works. Donors were encouraged to place silent bids for each canvas print and the winners were given their choice print for display in their home.

The gala also featured special guest speaker Daniel Masawi, Executive Director of GEF-Kenya. Masawi's inspiring speech touched on the initiatives being implemented by GEF-Kenya to further education for young boys and girls in their country. Masawi also detailed the program's success with the story of a young boy for whom the program had changed his outlook on education and prospects for living a better life.
Overall, the night was a huge success for the founders and partners of GEF. The canvas prints, along with generous donations from event attendees, helped raised over $100,000 for GEF programs.
