What is your background and how did it lead to photography?
My background is in Graphic Design. I went to Lake Washington Technical College, went through the certification program but also continued my education in web development. I worked at a Graphic Design company and on my own for a while before landing in photography. Knowing how to work in Photoshop made learning to use a DSLR camera that much more fun.

What type of photography do you shoot the most, and what is your favorite type of photography?
Children, models and family portraits are what I shoot the most. I absolutely love shooting models and children!

What is your photographic style and aesthetic? How did you develop this style?
I'm very creative, that may sound empty compared to how many times people have heard an artist say they are creative, but I am. Ideas come easily, quickly and all the time. I love it so much, my mind never rests.

What is in your photography kit?
D700, D800
2 SB900's
Nikkor 80-200, 2.8
Nikko 28-105, 2.8
Sigma 105, 2.8
Fisheye, 8mm
Nikkor 17-35, 2.8
Nikkor 50mm, 1.4

What post processing tools do you use?
Mostly Photoshop and Lightroom

What was the gist of your business plan when you first started?
You know, I don't even remember. What I do know is that business is not my strong suit. I tend to follow my heart in a blind kind of direction. Not really the smartest way to run a business, how I'm successful I'll never know!

What is your best photography tip and post processing tip?
KNOW LIGHT! Learn that shi...stuff. Don't specialize in just natural lighting, you limit yourself that way.
Processing tip? Umm, uh, knowledge is power (I'm sorry that was lame).

What was your greatest challenge so far as a professional photographer?
The business side... Must. Get. Better.

What three things should you prioritize when starting a photography business?
Gosh, please, if you have an answer maybe forward it to me.
1) Pricing
2) Organization of customers and information
3) A place to record all your receipts and anything and everything you will need come tax day (painful)

Any last words of wisdom?
Learn light, because knowing how to control light is invaluable. Learn to accept criticism because it really can help you learn and grow. Photography is expensive and a lot of work but the rewards are endless.
