What is your background and how did it lead to photography?
Hobbyists! By loving the trade and self-teaching we were able to develop our own unique style and means of doing things.
What type of photography do you shoot the most, and what is your favorite type of photography?
Weddings {80%}, Portraits {15%}, Corporate {5%}. Dan would probably say he prefers landscapes (for fun), and being able to shoot unique venues and events that are out of the norm for work. I (Karin) prefer bridal sessions or newborns!
What is your photographic style and aesthetic? How did you develop this style?
Natural, clean and creative! We always love working new angles and ideas and specialize in helping our couples feel relaxed and comfortable during our shoots. We take a photo-journalistic approach of not being overly posed, yet realize that most all couples need guidance when it comes to "posing"
What is in your photography kit?
2 - Canon 5d Mkiiis
Sigma ART 50mm 1.4 and Sigma ART 35mm 1.4
Canon L Series:

What post-processing tools do you use?

What was the gist of your business plan when you first started?
Two photographer coverage (we are a husband/wife team) with a random assistant each weekend. Digital Rights included plus a canvas. We have always highly valued quality customer service and being a resource for all our couples
What is your best photography tip and post-processing tip?
Shoot in manual - take the time to learn how. ALWAYS shoot in RAW and keep your monitors calibrated!
What was your greatest challenge so far as a professional photographer?
Pricing structure.
What three things should you prioritize when starting a photography business?
1) Organization
2) Clear communication/contracts
3) Quality equipment
Any last words of wisdom?
Use other photographers for inspiration, not imitation!
